On May 20th 2015, the Charles Barrows STEM Academy held their first annual BioBlitz. All 400 children participated and found a total of 168 species on school grounds. Several taxonomic experts from UConn (incl. GrAToL postdoc K. Fucikova) and Eastern CT State University helped the students identify the various organisms. An algal highlight collected in one of the two small wetlands was Nitella cf. flexilis.
Barrows students assembled after the BioBlitz.
