White Memorial Bioblitz

The White Memorial Bioblitz took place on May 31st-June1st 2013 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the White Memorial Conservation Center. Numerous aquatic habitats were sampled for algae, including boggy areas and wetlands, streams, ponds, and a lake. In the end, more than 900 species of all organisms were counted, and algae were the fourth most species-rich group after vascular plants, birds, and fungi, with a total of 57 taxa, mostly identified to genus level.
